Training

JEET KUNE DO

The original structure of Jeet Kune Do ("JKD") was formed from the core of three arts: modified Wing Chun Gung-Fu, Western Boxing and Western Fencing. JKD movements are explosive and dynamic, enabling a practitioner to intercept an opponent's technique or intent in all ranges of combat.

Michael's teacher, Sifu Jerry Poteet, was one of the few students hand picked by Bruce Lee to train with him at the Chinatown School in Los Angeles. Sifu Jerry has long been recognized as "the conscience of Jeet Kune Do", making sure to pass on Bruce Lee's art to others just as it was taught to him.

COMBAT GUNG-FU

Developed by Sifu Ed Monaghan (a certified instructor under both Sifu Jerry Poteet and Guro Dan Inosanto), Duo Ji Gung-Fu is an efficient and practical self-defense system with JKD as its foundation, and incorporating techniques from Muay Thai, Boxe Francais Savate, Japanese & Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Filipino Kali/Escrima. Michael currently holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Gung-Fu under Sifu Ed.

KICKBOXING

Muay Thai (aka "The Art of 8 Limbs"), from Thailand, is known for its power and conditioning. Savate, from France, is known for its precision and fluidity. Incorporated together, these two arts combine to form a versatile and effective kickboxing system useful for both combat sports and self-defense.
